NCCF has earned its reputation as a trusted and recognized champion of the community and its most vulnerable members by providing the love, structure, and education found in healthy families and responsive communities. Through a dedicated team, a wide variety of programs, and a commitment to enhancing the lives of the children and families we serve, NCCF is a force for human change.
It is the mission of the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF) to create total, healthy living environments for vulnerable children, youth and families, and the quality of life which empowers their ability to thrive and demonstrate responsibility.
We seek to carry out this mission by utilizing a four-pronged approach to our work in the Washington metropolitan area: community supports, education and training, volunteerism, and social advocacy. We have over 20 programs that primarily operate under four main service divisions:
NCCF’s expertise is our ability to provide services that empower clients to positively transform their lives, which is cultivated by our work with at-risk populations. Our programs provide wraparound services to help ensure that our clients become self-sufficient and do not return to dependency and poverty. The resiliency of the children and families we serve continues to impress and encourage us.
We envision a society in which children, youth, and families live in sustained, supportive communities, which reinforce the integrity and unity of the family.
The vision will be realized through:
- Connecting vulnerable children and families with communities that effectively promote the integration of physical, spiritual, economic, and emotional health.
- Empowering children and families to be self-sufficient, to give back, and to learn to help others in the process.
- Providing an array of services and supports, in collaboration with partners who share a similar vision and values, which engender personal growth for the individual, the family, and the community.
- Advocating for services which are proactive, community-based, preventive, quality, comprehensive, consistent, and address the current needs of the community, its children, youth, and families.
The National Center for Children and Families promotes diversity and inclusion as it seeks “to create total, healthy living environments for vulnerable children, youth and families, and the quality of life which empowers their ability to thrive and demonstrate responsibility.”
We respect, value and celebrate the unique attributes, characteristics and perspectives that make each person who they are. We also believe that bringing diverse individuals together allows us to collectively and more effectively address the issues that face our communities. It is our aim, therefore, that our partners, strategies and investments reflect these core values.
