Oil & Acrylic

  • Oil - the art or technique of painting withpaint made by grinding a pigment in oil, usually linseed oil
  • Acrylic - a painting done with a paintin which an acrylic resin serves as a vehicle

Drawing & Pastels

  • Drawing - a graphic representation bylines of an object or idea, as with a pencil; a delineation of form withoutreference to color
  • Pastels - a kind of dried pastes made of pigments ground with chalk and compounded with gum water

Watercolors

  • Watercolor - the art or technique of painting with a pigment for which water and not oil is used as the vehicle

Mixed Media

  • A technique involving the use of two or moreartistic media, such as ink and pastel or painting and collage, that arecombined in a single composition

Other Media

  • Art that does not fall within the boundariesof the previous categories; i.e., Nantucket Lightship baskets, printmaking,silkpainting, artistic quilting, ceramics, stained glass, and murals to name a few

Photography

  • The process or art of producing images ofobjects either on sensitized surfaces by the chemical action of light or ofother forms of radiant energy, as x-rays, gamma rays, or cosmic rays, or via amethod in which an image is digitally encoded and stored for later reproduction

Sculpture

  • The art of carving, modeling,welding, or otherwise producing figurative or abstract works of art in threedimensions, as in relief, intaglio, or in the round

Wood

  • The hard, fibrous substance composingmost of the stem and branches of a tree or shrub, and lying beneath the bark;the xylem
